The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has appointed Image Registrars Limited as its new share registrar.
The appointment, which took effect on August 1, 2026, replaces EFS Registrars Limited.
In a notice issued on Thursday, August 6, NSE said the change is intended to enhance the delivery of share registration and shareholder services while ensuring a smooth transition for investors.
“The Nairobi Securities Exchange PLC (“NSE” or the “Company”) wishes to inform its shareholders, investors and the general public that the Company has appointed Image Registrars Limited as its Share Registrar, replacing EFS Registrars Limited,” the exchange said.
“The change of registrar is intended to enhance the delivery of share registration and shareholder services. The transition has been carefully planned to ensure continuity of service and minimal disruption to shareholders.”
NSE Names Image Registrars New Share Registrar Effective August 1
Following the appointment, Image Registrars Limited will take over all shareholder-related services previously handled by EFS Registrars.
These include processing share transfers, transmission of shares, updating shareholder records and other registry services offered to shareholders.
NSE advised shareholders to direct all future inquiries and requests relating to their shareholdings to Image Registrars Limited, which will now handle all registry services on behalf of the NSE.

The NSE assured shareholders that the change in registrar will not affect their shareholding, ownership rights or entitlements in the company.
The exchange also thanked its shareholders and stakeholders for their continued support, saying it looks forward to working with Image Registrars Limited to deliver efficient and high-quality share registration services.
What Share Registrar Does
A share registrar is responsible for maintaining a company’s register of shareholders and ensuring shareholder records are accurate and up to date.
The registrar processes share transfers, transmissions, allotments, changes to shareholder details, dividend claims and payments, and other shareholder requests in accordance with the Companies Act, the Capital Markets Act and other applicable regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
The registrar also supports corporate actions such as bonus and rights issues, prepares shareholder reports and statutory filings.
The firm assists with annual general meetings, advises the company on regulatory compliance, and works with market stakeholders to ensure shareholder services are delivered efficiently.
The NSE said the transition has been planned to ensure services continue without interruption.
