Old Mutual Group has expanded its financial wellness drive in Kisumu with the launch of two new insurance products designed to improve affordability and customer convenience.
The insurer introduced Motor-Rahisi, an option that allows motorists to split comprehensive motor insurance premium payments over three months. Additionally, the Group integrated Airalo eSIM functionality into Old Mutual Travel Insurance. Through this partnership with the global eSIM provider, travelers gain access to affordable mobile data across more than 200 countries, eliminating the need to source physical SIM cards abroad.
“Customers increasingly expect solutions that are convenient and responsive to their everyday needs,” said Japheth Ogalloh, Managing Director of Old Mutual General Insurance Kenya. “Motor-Rahisi gives motorists greater flexibility in managing the cost of comprehensive insurance, while our partnership with Airalo brings protection and connectivity together in one convenient digital journey.”
Via the integrated travel platform, users can choose data plans, activate them digitally, and manage top-ups while abroad.
Beyond product launches, Ogalloh urged households and business owners to evaluate their existing coverage and implement preventive measures against potential El Niño weather conditions later in the year.
“Insurance is an important part of financial resilience, but protection also starts with preparedness,” Ogalloh emphasized. “We encourage customers to review their cover, understand the risks they are exposed to, and take practical steps to safeguard their homes, vehicles, and businesses against weather-related risks.”
The product launch took place during the Kisumu Market Storm, an event under Old Mutual’s broader There Will Be Signs campaign. The initiative aims to help Kenyans identify financial milestones and make informed decisions regarding savings, investments, and retirement planning.
“Financial wellness starts with recognising the signs and taking action early,” stated Martin Karenju, Managing Director of Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya. “Through the Market Storm, we are encouraging customers to build stronger savings habits, plan for retirement, and invest consistently for the long term. Our ambition is to help more Kenyans move beyond immediate financial needs to building sustainable wealth.”
The Kisumu event follows activations in Eldoret, Thika, Nakuru, and Mombasa as part of Old Mutual’s nationwide outreach strategy.
