Absa Bank Kenya is commemorating 100 years of successful operations in Eldoret with a week-long series of customer, colleague, and community engagements across Uasin Gishu County, celebrating a century of partnership, growth, and contribution to the region’s economic development.
The celebrations bring together customers, colleagues, community leaders, and other stakeholders through a diverse list of activities designed to honour the bank’s long-standing relationship with the people of Eldoret and the wider North Rift region.
Throughout the week, Absa’s leadership team has engaged customers, businesses, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders across Uasin Gishu County to better understand their aspirations and reaffirm the bank’s commitment to supporting their growth ambitions. The programme also included colleague engagements, recognising the contributions of current and former employees who have played a role in shaping Absa’s century-long legacy in the region.
Speaking in Eldoret, Absa Bank Kenya Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yusuf Omari noted that reaching 100 years in Eldoret is a remarkable milestone and a testament to the trust that generations of customers have placed in them.
“This week has been an opportunity to celebrate the people and businesses that have been part of our journey while listening to their stories and aspirations for the future. Our customer engagements reinforce our commitment to remaining a trusted financial partner that supports growth, creates opportunities, and helps unlock the region’s immense economic potential,” he said.
As part of the activities to engage different stakeholders, Absa executives paid a courtesy visit to world-renowned athlete Faith Kipyegon on Thursday, recognising her exceptional achievements on the global stage and her role in inspiring future generations of Kenyan athletes.
The week’s activities culminated in an exclusive colleague dinner on Thursday evening, bringing together current and retired colleagues to honour their contribution to the growth and success of the bank over the years. Additional customer and stakeholder engagements will continue throughout the weekend, further strengthening relationships with customers and local communities.
On Saturday, the celebrations featured the Absa @ 100 Golf Tournament, bringing together customers, partners, and stakeholders for a day of networking and engagement. The celebrations will conclude on Sunday with the Absa City Run – Eldoret edition, which has attracted significant interest from elite and amateur athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and members of the public. The event is expected to bring together thousands of participants in a celebration of community, wellness, and the enduring partnership between Absa and the people of Eldoret.
Commenting on the golf tournament and the upcoming city run, Absa Bank’s Marketing and Corporate Affairs Director, Mwihaki Wachira, praised the golf tournament and the Absa Eldoret City Run as important brand and community engagement platforms that reflect the bank’s commitment to building meaningful connections, promoting healthy lifestyles, and creating a positive impact beyond banking.
