Kenyans have shared photos and videos showing the impact of heavy rains in different parts of Nairobi after a downpour left several roads and streets waterlogged.
The rainfall, which pounded the capital overnight and into Saturday morning, disrupted movement in several areas, with motorists and pedestrians forced to navigate flooded roads.
One of the areas affected was the Thika Road corridor, where flooding was reported around the Githurai area.
Footage shared from the area showed water covering sections of the road as motorists made their way through the flooded sections.
In another video seen, a bus appeared to be stuck in a ditch along Uhuru Highway, Nairobi, following the heavy rains on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Traffic police officers were also spotted around where the incident reportedly took place.
Another photo showed motorists struggling to navigate a road in Parklands after water accumulated on the street.
The scenes were also captured by pedestrians, with some Kenyans sharing footage showing people struggling to find safe paths after water filled sections of roads and drainage channels.
The images and videos shared online offered a glimpse of the disruption caused by the rains, with some roads becoming difficult for both motorists and pedestrians to navigate.
The situation has also renewed concerns over the capital’s preparedness for periods of intense rainfall, particularly amid repeated warnings from the Kenya Meteorological Department about the possibility of heavy rains in some parts of the country.
The weather agency has warned that some areas could experience heavy rainfall, strong winds and flash floods, prompting calls for residents to remain alert.
The latest scenes in Nairobi have consequently raised questions over whether the city's drainage infrastructure is adequately prepared to handle the anticipated rains.
Residents have meanwhile been urged to remain cautious, particularly when travelling through areas prone to flooding and flash floods, as the rainy conditions continue.
