A high-level Polish business and government delegation has capped a successful multi-day tour of Uasin Gishu County with a vibrant gala dinner hosted by the County Government, signaling growing interest in long-term investment partnerships.
The event, held under the leadership of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, brought together county officials, local business leaders and members of the visiting team led by Ms. Anna Bańkowska, Deputy Marshal of the West Pomeranian Region.
The dinner marked the formal close of an intensive programme designed to open doors for Polish capital and expertise in agriculture, agro-processing, machinery, ICT, railway engineering, cybersecurity and industrial technology.
Throughout the visit, the Polish team inspected key agricultural enterprises, health facilities, manufacturing plants and potential investment sites across the county.
They also held focused discussions with members of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), exploring concrete avenues for technology transfer, agricultural mechanisation, value addition, skills development and two-way trade.
Speaking at the gala dinner last evening, Governor Chelilim welcomed the visitors and underscored the county’s readiness for partnership.
“Uasin Gishu is open for business. What we have seen over the past few days is not just courtesy visits but serious conversations about how we can work together to create jobs, modernise our farms and build industries that last,” the Governor said.
“We are ready to walk with our Polish friends from dialogue to delivery,” stated Bii.
Ms. Bańkowska expressed satisfaction with the reception and the opportunities identified.
“We came to Uasin Gishu to listen, to learn and to find partners who share our ambition for modern agriculture and industry. What we found is a county with clear vision, strong leadership and real potential. The friendships and business links formed here will not end with this dinner; they are the beginning of lasting cooperation,” she told the gathering.
The colorful evening provided space for informal networking and the reaffirmation of mutual commitments.
Officials on both sides indicated that follow-up teams would soon begin working on specific project proposals arising from the tour.
It is important to note that bilateral engagements of this nature between county governments and international development partners are increasingly vital in Kenya’s devolved system.
Such engagements allow counties to move beyond national-level diplomacy and attract targeted foreign investment, technology and markets that speak directly to local strengths.
And when conducted with transparency, clear priorities and genuine private-sector participation, such partnerships accelerate job creation, transfer practical skills and position regions like Uasin Gishu as competitive investment destinations in their own right.
The Polish visit demonstrates how purposeful county-level diplomacy can convert goodwill into tangible economic progress.
