The Ministry of Health has extended the deadline for healthcare facilities to migrate to Digital Health Agency (DHA)-certified Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) by one month to November 30, 2026, following requests from healthcare providers.
The extension gives facilities that have not completed the transition additional time to move from the Social Health Authority (SHA) Provider Portal to the certified systems.
In a statement signed by the Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale Friday, the extension followed consultations with SHA and DHA, taking into account progress made so far and requests from healthcare providers.
He noted that all 6,427 public health facilities in Levels 2 to 4 have successfully migrated, representing 100 per cent compliance.
However, the CS said only 22 of the 28 public Level 5 facilities have completed the transition, representing 79 per cent, while 190 of the 518 faith-based health facilities have migrated, accounting for 37 per cent.
A total of 371 private health facilities have also successfully migrated.
The Ministry has warned that access to the SHA Provider Portal will be deactivated on November 30, 2026, and facilities that fail to migrate by the deadline risk disruptions in service verification, pre-authorisation and claims submission and processing.
The transition is intended to enable healthcare providers to operate through DHA-certified systems.
The Digital Health Agency is continuing to offer technical assistance to facilities, including system onboarding, integration, troubleshooting, user training and coordination with HMIS vendors.
Facilities requiring support have been asked to contact the agency through its helpdesk email at helpdesk@dha.go.ke or call the toll-free number 147.
The CS has further clarified that claims already submitted through the SHA Provider Portal will continue to be processed in accordance with the applicable requirements.
Healthcare providers yet to complete the migration have been urged to use the additional month to finalize the transition and avoid interruptions in services to SHA beneficiaries.
