Mombasa residents demand accountability on controversial, unfulfilled projects in new county plan
The issue of unfulfilled projects also emerged in Nyali, where residents demanded updates on a proposed generator for Mlaleo Hospital and road projects in Freretown.
Mombasa residents have questioned why projects that previously faced public opposition or remain unfulfilled continue to feature in county development plans, demanding explanations before fresh allocations are approved for the 2027/2028 financial year.
The concerns emerged during public participation on the proposed Annual Development Plan (ADP), with residents of Changamwe specifically questioning why the controversial Marshalling Yard project had reappeared despite earlier objections from the community.
A resident of Airport Ward, Mzee Aphan, challenged the County Government to account for its development record in the previous financial year, questioning why the project was still included in the new plan.
He also questioned why the County continued renting office space despite having the capacity to construct its own buildings.
The issue of unfulfilled projects also emerged in Nyali, where residents demanded updates on a proposed generator for Mlaleo Hospital and road projects in Freretown.
Mwaniki, who raised the concerns during a public participation forum at VOK Social Hall, called on the County Government to provide clear timelines for implementing the projects.
