The government has begun verifying beneficiaries enrolled in the cash transfer programme for older persons and people with disabilities (PWDs) in Rachuonyo South Sub-County.

Rachuonyo South Sub-County Gender and Social Development Officer Verah Ouma said the exercise, which began on September 21 and is expected to run until October 2026, seeks to confirm the status of beneficiaries and update their records.

Ouma said the verification involves proof of life for beneficiaries, as well as collection of updated biodata.

The exercise includes capturing fingerprints and facial images and recording details of vital documents such as national identity cards.

“The contact details of the beneficiaries are also being recorded,” Ouma said.

She said the exercise would enable the government to clean up the cash transfer payroll by removing beneficiaries whose proof of life cannot be established and who are therefore considered deceased.

“After the clean-up, the government will now target to enlist new beneficiaries to the programme,” she said.

Ouma said Rachuonyo South Sub-County currently has 4,022 older persons and 176 people with disabilities receiving monthly stipends of Sh2,000 each.

The cash transfer programme is intended to provide financial support to vulnerable older persons and people with disabilities, enabling them to meet basic needs and live with dignity.
