Marsabit County Commissioner Stanley Kamande has called on national government departments in Marsabit County to ensure that members of the public receive government services efficiently, equally, and without discrimination.

Kamande spoke during a quarterly county Service Delivery Committee meeting attended by heads of national government departments. The meeting was held at the County Commissioner’s boardroom in Saku Town, Marsabit County.

The commissioner said the meeting deliberated on matters affecting service delivery across the county, with all departments agreeing that residents should be able to access the services they seek without unnecessary challenges.

He urged heads of departments to ensure that government officers remain at their designated work stations and are available to serve members of the public.

Kamande said residents who visit government offices only to find officers absent may conclude that the government is not delivering on its mandate, yet government departments are in place and ready to serve them.

“Residents should feel the presence of the government when they come to our offices and stations seeking government services,” Kamande said.

He further directed government officers to provide the best possible services to all residents and ensure that no one is discriminated against on the basis of their location or other circumstances.

The Commissioner said Marsabit should receive government services comparable to those offered in other parts of the country, emphasizing that all Kenyans have an equal right to government services.

He urged residents not to travel to other counties to seek services that can be accessed within Marsabit, noting that government officers posted to the county were deployed there specifically to serve residents closer to their homes.

Kamande also called for greater cooperation and resource sharing among government departments. He said each department was given an opportunity during the meeting to outline its progress in implementing government programs and policies.

The presentation enabled the departments to identify areas where they could support one another, particularly through sharing resources and information where shortages or gaps exist.

He said better coordination among departments would also help prevent duplication of work and ensure that government resources are used effectively.

The commissioner noted that the County Service Delivery Committee meeting is held every quarter of the financial year. Kamande said that the latest meeting marked the first quarter of the 2026/2027 financial year, with another meeting expected towards the end of December.

He expressed hope that improved service delivery would enable residents to feel that they are fully included in the national development agenda and that the government cares about their welfare.

Kamande said the ultimate goal is to ensure that the people of Marsabit receive government services and development opportunities on an equal footing with residents in other parts of Kenya.
