Finn Michael Wolfhard is a Canadian actor, musician, and filmmaker born on December 23, 2002, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Of French, German, and Jewish heritage, he grew up in a creative household with his parents, Eric Wolfhard, a researcher focused on Indigenous land claims, and Mary Jolivet.

Wolfhard rose to international prominence as a teenager through his role in a major streaming series.

He has since built a multifaceted career spanning acting, directing, and music while maintaining close ties to his family and hometown of Vancouver.

    Finn has one sibling, an older brother named Nick Wolfhard, born on October 21, 1997.

    Nick is also involved in the entertainment industry, primarily as a voice actor.

    He has provided voices for characters in animated projects including the Netflix series The Last Kids on Earth, as well as roles in Beyblade, Under Wraps, and other animation and video game work.

    Nick inspired Finn’s early interest in acting after performing in a school play. They appeared together as young versions of characters in the 2013 short film Aftermath.

    Career

    Wolfhard began acting at a young age.

    He secured early work through online listings before landing guest roles on television series such as The 100 in 2014 and Supernatural in 2015.

    His breakthrough came in 2016 when he was cast as Mike Wheeler in the Netflix series Stranger Things. He continued playing the role through the show’s final season.

    Parallel to the series, he starred as Richie Tozier in the 2017 film adaptation of Stephen King’s It. He reprised the role in the 2019 sequel It Chapter Two.

    Additional film credits include The Goldfinch (2019). He provided the voice of Pugsley Addams in the animated film The Addams Family (2019).

    He also played the lead role in The Turning (2020). He portrayed Trevor Spengler in Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021).

    He reprised the role in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024). He also had a voice role in Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio (2022).

    Wolfhard has appeared in When You Finish Saving the World.

    Beyond acting, he directed the short film Night Shifts in 2020. He later co-wrote and co-directed the horror-comedy feature Hell of a Summer with Billy Bryk in 2023.

    In music, he fronted the indie rock band Calpurnia from 2017 to 2019.
