Health facilities given until November 30 to migrate to new health system
All facilities yet to migrate have been urged to take advantage of the extension and complete the process before the November 30 deadline.
The Ministry of Health has extended the deadline for healthcare facilities to migrate to approved Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) by one month to November 30, 2026, giving facilities yet to complete the transition additional time to finalise the process and avoid disruptions to healthcare services.
In a statement issued on Friday, Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale said the extension followed requests from healthcare providers and progress made in the migration from the Social Health Authority (SHA) Provider Portal.
The Ministry, in consultation with SHA and the Digital Health Agency (DHA), said the additional month would allow facilities that had not completed the transition to finalise the process.
The latest figures show that all 6,427 public Level 2-4 facilities have successfully migrated, achieving 100 per cent completion, while 22 of the 28 public Level 5 facilities have transitioned, representing 79 per cent.
However, faith-based facilities are lagging behind, with only 190 of the 518 facilities having migrated, representing 37 per cent. A total of 371 private facilities have also successfully transitioned.
The Ministry warned that access to the SHA Provider Portal will be deactivated on November 30, making it the final transition deadline.

"Facilities that fail to migrate by this final deadline risk disruptions to service verification, pre-authorisation and claims submission and processing," the ministry said.
The disruptions could affect the timely delivery of healthcare services to beneficiaries under the Social Health Authority.
To facilitate the transition, the DHA will continue offering technical assistance, including HMIS onboarding, system integration, troubleshooting, user training and coordination with HMIS vendors.

The Ministry also assured healthcare providers that claims already submitted through the SHA Provider Portal will continue to be processed in accordance with applicable requirements.
