NACADA is expected to work with county governments and community organisations to implement the guidelines and bring recovery services closer to those who need them.
The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has validated new guidelines aimed at expanding access to drug and substance abuse rehabilitation services at the community level.
The Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Guidelines were validated during a Board of Directors meeting chaired by NACADA Chairperson Stephen Mairori, paving the way for a community-centred approach to prevention, treatment and recovery.
“This validation marks the highest level of organisational commitment to demand reduction strategies in Kenya,” NACADA said, adding that the framework would help reduce stigma and make treatment more accessible and affordable.
