The Public Service Commission (PSC) has shortlisted 13 candidates for interviews for the Data Commissioner position.

In an announcement on September 29, the Commission received 152 applications after advertising the position on August 25, 2026.

“The advertisement closed on 14th September 2026, and attracted a total of One Hundred and fifty-two (152) applications. Following the conclusion of the shortlisting exercise, the Commission publishes the interview schedule for the shortlisted candidates,” read part of the announcement.

Interviews will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Public Service Commission offices on Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.

Among those shortlisted are David Omwoyo, Chief Executive Officer of the Media Council of Kenya, and Lydia Chelagat Sitienei, Corporation Secretary and Director of Legal Services at the Communications Authority of Kenya.

Others include Moses Lemayian Nooseli, an information systems scholar and ICT leader, and Nyale Duncan Kubahatisha, who has 13 years of experience in ICT administration and management.

Cheronoh Lynneth is a Kenyan legal professional who serves as the Senior Legal Counsel and Acting Manager of Legal Services at the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA).

While John Walubengo is a Senior Deputy Data Commissioner at the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) and a technology lecturer.

PSC has instructed the shortlisted candidates to arrive at the venue at least 20 minutes before their scheduled interview time.

Candidates must present original copies of their National Identity Cards, academic and professional certificates and transcripts, and other supporting documents and testimonials.

They must also provide clearances from the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Higher Education Loans Board, a registered Credit Reference Bureau, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Where applicable, candidates must present recommendations from relevant professional bodies and associations.

Those who obtained degrees from foreign universities must provide a letter from the Commission for University Education (CUE) recognizing their qualifications. Candidates must also submit a copy of their curriculum vitae.

Public Invited to Submit Information

The PSC has invited members of the public to submit credible information concerning any of the shortlisted candidates.

The information must be submitted through sworn affidavits to the Secretary/CEO of the Public Service Commission at Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.

Members of the public can also submit the information online through hodrands@publicservice.go.ke.

The submissions must be received by October 1, 2026.
