NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 30 — The Kenya China Chamber of Commerce and Industry has donated specialized beds to the Kenya Women and Children Wellness Centre in Nairobi, increasing the facility’s capacity to accommodate women and children requiring medical care and emergency shelter.
The beds were handed over by KCCCI Chairman Tim Chen during a ceremony attended by representatives of the Chinese business community, local administrators and center staff.
Chen said the donation was intended to support the facility as it provides services to vulnerable women and children.
“True partnership goes beyond economic trade; it is rooted in compassion and mutual support.”
“By supporting the Kenya Women and Children Wellness Centre, we are investing in the health, dignity, and future of Kenyan families.”
The center said the additional beds would improve accommodation and care for mothers and children in distress.
The chamber said the donation was part of its community support activities, which have also included assistance to schools, disaster relief efforts and youth initiatives.
The donation comes amid growing commercial and diplomatic ties between Kenya and China, with Chinese businesses operating across sectors including construction, manufacturing, trade, technology and infrastructure.
KCCCI represents businesses involved in Kenya-China commercial relations and has been involved in initiatives aimed at supporting Chinese enterprises operating in Kenya and facilitating business links between the two countries.
