Lukoye Atwoli is a Kenyan professor of Psychiatry and the Dean of the Aga Khan University Medical College, East Africa.

Lutoye Atwoli was born in 1976 in Kenya. He is the son of Central Organisation of Trade Unions boss, Francis Atwoli.

He has been a professor of Psychiatry and the Dean of the Aga Khan University Medical College, East Africa since 2020.

His extensive career began in 2014, when he became an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Mental Health Department at Moi University.

Previously, he was Dean after working as a Senior Lecturer and Lecturer from 2012 in the Department of Mental Health at Moi University.

From 2007 to 2008, he was a Medical Specialist in Mental Health at the Moi Teaching Referral Hospital.

In 2006, he worked as a Provincial Psychiatrist and Deputy Medical Superintendent at the Provincial General Hospital Garissa.

Lukoye Atwoli was married to Maureen, who died on September 8, 2026. Together they have two children. He met his wife at a wedding ceremony.

Achievements

He is a visiting scientist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and an honorary associate professor at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town.

He was also appointed to serve on the board of Global Health by the US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
