Kirinyaga County Water and Sanitation Company (KICOWASCO) has revised a tender for an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and ICT infrastructure upgrade.
In a notice published on Tuesday, October 27, the company extended the submission deadline by one week after discovering missing specifications in the original tender document.
The company moved the deadline from October 28 to November 4, 2026, at 12 noon East Africa Time, giving prospective bidders additional time to prepare their submissions.
The tender was initially advertised on October 13, 2026, under the K-WASH programme.
According to an addendum issued by KICOWASCO, the original tender document did not include specifications for five smart mobile phones and two handheld Global Positioning System (GPS) devices required under the project.
Kirinyaga County Water Company Extends Tender After Omitting Smartphone and GPS Details
The company identified the omission after the tender had already been advertised, prompting it to amend the document.
“Kirinyaga County Water and Sanitation PLC (KICOWASCO) advertised various tenders under the K-WASH programme in the standard newspaper on 13th October 2026, with the closing date being 28th October 2026 at 12.00 Noon. Among the tenders advertised was the Tender for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Implementation and ICT Infrastructure Enhancement Project, which included the supply of 5 smart mobile phones and 2no. handheld GPS Devices,’ read part of the notice.
“Regrettably, the specifications for the smart mobile phones and the GPS devices had been omitted from the tender document, which was realised and amended later after the tender had been advertised.”
The Kirinyaga County Water Company has made the revised tender document available on its website at www.kicowasco.co.ke.
At the same time, KICOWASCO said it had received several requests for clarification from prospective bidders, including requests to extend the submission deadline to allow them sufficient time to meet the tender requirements.
“Numerous clarifications have also been sought by several bidders, including requests for time extensions to allow bidders adequate time to comprehensively prepare and fully comply with the requirements of the tender document, and more specifically the Tender for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Implementation and ICT Infrastructure Enhancement Project,” it added.
What the World Bank-Funded Kirinyaga County Water Project Will Cover
The extension specifically applies to the tender for the implementation of the ERP system and enhancement of ICT infrastructure.
An ERP system helps an organisation manage and integrate its operations through a centralised platform. Depending on its design, such a system can support functions such as financial management, procurement, inventory control and reporting.
The planned ICT infrastructure enhancement is part of the same procurement, which also includes the supply of the mobile phones and GPS devices.
The company said it extended the deadline in light of the circumstances and the need to uphold applicable law and the principles of fairness.
“In consideration of the above and in adherence to the law and principles of justice and fairness, the closing date for the Tender for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Implementation and ICT Infrastructure Enhancement Project has been extended to 4th November 2026 12.00 Noon (East Africa Time),” the company said.
All other information, requirements and instructions contained in the original tender advertisement remain unchanged.
Interested bidders should consult the revised tender document on KICOWASCO’s website for the full specifications and submission requirements before the new deadline of November 4, 2026, at 12 noon.
