Vihiga Governor Dr Wilber Ottichilo has commissioned Tambua Social Hall in Tambua Ward, Hamisi Sub-County, in a move aimed at strengthening community development, youth empowerment and access to social services.
The facility, implemented through the County Department of Gender, Culture, Youth and Sports, is expected to provide residents with a platform for social interaction, economic empowerment, civic engagement and cultural activities.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Dr Ottichilo urged residents to make effective use of the facility to nurture talents, explore online employment opportunities and preserve the county’s cultural heritage.
“The hall is for the people of Tambua. Let us use it to empower our youth, nurture talents, create jobs online and preserve our rich culture,” he said.
He said the social hall would serve as a centre for youth and women groups, cultural events, public barazas and other community-driven initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening social cohesion.
The Governor, who was accompanied by his Deputy, Wilberforce Kitiezo, also underscored the importance of cooperation between the National and County governments in accelerating development.
He noted that the cordial working relationship between the two levels of government had facilitated the implementation of various development projects across Vihiga County.
Ottichilo expressed optimism that continued collaboration would spur further development and create more opportunities for residents.
County officials, local leaders and residents attended the event, welcoming the facility as an important investment in grassroots development and community engagement.
