NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 4 – The national women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, suffered a straight-set loss to Egypt in the CAVB Africa Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Kasarani Gymnasium on Friday night, missing out on automatic LA 2028 Olympics qualification.

Kenya lost 22-25 in the opening set, before going down 15-25 in the second set and finally bowing out 15-25 in the last set.

Malkia, who has booked a ticket to the World Cup, will now hope to qualify for the Olympics through the repechage.

For Egypt, who won their fourth African title, it was sweet revenge after losing to Kenya at the last edition held in 2023.
